Rev. Dr. Richard Douglass was born in Limestone County, Alabama April 23, 1957. He grew up in Madison, Alabama where he attended elementary and secondary school. He graduated from Bob Jones High School in 1975 with top honors in History and Government. He attended Alabama A&M University where he graduated with honors in 1982 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Political Science. Later, he went on to take his Master's of Divinity and Doctor of Ministry from Colgate Rochester Divinity School / Bexley Hall of Crozer Theological Seminary in 1985 and 1995 respectively. Rev. Douglass is ordained and serves as Associate Minister at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church. This year he was the keynote speaker for the J.S. "Church" Carter Preaching Event in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. Dr. Douglass is taught in a Pearl Class on Black Theology at Colgate Rochester Divinity school as a small group discussion leader in the Junior Seminar (a core course of first year students). He teaches in the Zion Hill Religious Institute and has taught at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church's Lay Theology Ministry. Dr. Douglass has a list of awards and honors which includes Service Awards from the City of Madison, Alabama, Second Baptist Church Mumford, Holy Trinity Baptist Church; a Certificate of Appreciation from the United States Postal Service, State of New York Unified Court System and Earl Street Neighborhood Association. Rev. Douglass' biography is listed in the National Dean's list and the Outstanding Young Men of America directories. He is the winner of the Democrat and Chronicle's Golden Pen Award. Dr. Douglass is a Thirty Second Degree Mason, a level he obtained at the age of twenty one. Rev. Douglass has been serving Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church as Senior Associate Minister since October 1999 and as Interim Pastor since April 2000. Rev. Douglass is married to Grace Twitty Douglass and they have two children, Grace Elizabeth 14 and Julius Richard 12. |
